This forest is an area of relaxation appreciated by walkers who use the various forest walks, and a stretch of 10 km named « La Laurentine » was in fact laid out about ten years ago. It starts from above the hamlet of Moussy and winds through the woods to the« Grange des bois », near Orange , coming back down to the village and it is commonly used by hikers, mountain bikers or ‘snow-shoers’ in winter; moreover, several passages such as the Cache, |
the Pâcheux and the Chasseurs Pass lead to the Bellajoux pastures at Le Petit-Bornand, although it must be said that these are quite steep and the latter two are only recommended for expert hikers.Farming is still continued, notably in the form of three farms, two of which are GAEC ( grouped |

As for the inhabitants of Saint Laurent generally, they are around 720 in number at the moment, a large percentage of whom have settled in the village in the course of the last 20 years as , in the 60s, at the peak of the rural exodus, the population had fallen to 287 . This population is mainly divided over five hamlets , three of which (the administrative centre, Sonnex et Moussy) have experienced a pronounced growth in the last ten years.
Finally , the dynamic character of the life of the associations must be underlined as the commune has nine associations, one of which « Lou Laurentin » has been created recently to organise the annual fair which takes place on the Sunday in August which falls nearest to the name day of Saint Laurent on the 10th of the same month and which is a date not to be missed.
