The Arve Valley and the Upper Giffre : moving forward into the future together.
The name Faucigny : Why ?
Faucigny, former province of the Duchy of Savoy, situated at the heart of the département of Haute-Savoie has retained its cultural identity throughout the ages. It is a territory comprising two geographically identifiable and complementary entities : the Mid-Valley of the Arve and the Upper Valley of the Giffre.
These two mountain valleys have developed in their different ways according to their geography and history. At the same time, they have kept and maintained close links as neighbours with a common culture
.
A territory project has to make good use of the specificities of each valley with the common interest in mind.29 communes of this territory have united their efforts to reflect on the future of ‘Faucigny’ and put together a territory development project.
