TECHNIC VALLEY...
A MAJOR CENTRE OF SUBCONTRACTING IN MECHANICS

The  metalwork sector is one of France’s  great industrial sectors (1/3 of firms and 47%  of industrial employment).
In Europe France accounts for 16% of  European jobs after Germany  (24%) and  Italy (21%).

Technic Valley alone, in its 40 square kilometres, has a concentration of 800  small and medium-sized firms specialising in this subcontracting activity . A major centre of  technological innovation, Technic Valley has been recognised as an Industrial District (*).

The sector is largely made up of small and very small firms. 88% have fewer than  50 employees, around 20 more than  100.
Every year  screw-cutting firms  transform almost 250,000 tonnes of metal  ( steels, stainless steel ,brass,  copper alloys , special alloys, precious metals...) into a great number of parts. They are manufactured in small, medium or large series and machined in small , medium or large diameters according to the firms’ specialisations.

  The strength of numerous professions

The Arve Valley is the reservoir of every skill in the field of industrial subcontracting.
As  a result of  successive technological evolutions and demand, screw-cutting has created its own complementary activities such as:
· Mechanical finishing operations ( reworking)
· Metal cutting  Metal stamping
· Heat Treatment and Plating
· Machine tools, machinery, measuring and control
(manufacture and reconstruction)
· Processing of plastic materials
· Electric and electronic circuit building  automatic devices and industrial  equipment welding brazing
·sheet metal manufacture  boiler-making  die forging , cold struck, forging
· Assembling of subsets and complete sets

A Wide Range of Production

Whether ultra complex  technological innovations or ordinary everyday objects, the parts made in  Technic Valley play a part in the correct functioning of thousands of industrial products.
From the  Ariane  rocket to the ordinary everyday car, from satellites to electric razors, from the medico-surgical to aeronautics, from hi-fi to the luxury industry by way of mobile telephones…thousands of products contain screw-cut or mechanical parts , components, simple or complex , that come out of  Technic Valley.
We often have the solutions to your trickiest problems…our know-how  has placed Technic Valley parts wherever there is progress or  challenges throughout the world.

La haute technicité au service de la haute technologie
A profession in constant evolution...

The entrepreneurs of « Technic Valley » have always known how to integrate the latest technological advances. This high technicity guarantees production of the highest level of quality.
Today again, to meet the recent developments in subcontracting and the pressure from customers, the screw-cutting industrialists  have  shown a recognised and appreciated adaptability . They are asserting themselves increasingly as designers by integrating the manufacture of subsets and sets. They are able to ensure a function inside a  mechanical, electromechanical or electronic system.

The performance of this industrial district  is explained by its being organised into interdependent sectors of activity. At the same time, this network has been enriched by a very well-developed tertiary environment : suppliers of raw materials and means of production, research consultancy companies, computer engineering firms, transport firms, banking network ,temporary job agencies, centres of research, training centres, centres for transfer, technological benchmarking , etc…

Faced with an increasing number of challenges.

More than half of the production is for the car industry and is therefore subject to considerable constraints: regrouping of  plants,  “just in time” production and delivery.  However ,the geographical concentration of the activity, the proximity of production partners added to an astonishing flexibility are master trump cards.

(*) Did you say
‘industrial district ?’
To improve their competitiveness, some small and medium-sized companies have grouped themselves together on a territory of proximity around a speciality, a profession or a product. They give mutual aid, develop complementarities and thus organise themselves into a ‘local productive system’,’ industrial district’ or “cluster “. The Arve Valley belongs to the Club des Districts Industriels Français which federates the different productive systems and works in a network with the European club of districts.

A "PIVOT OF COMPETITIVENESS" LABEL FOR TECHNIC VALLEY
Technic Valley has been chosen to be a "pivot of competitiveness " under the aegis of the "Arve Industrie Haute-Savoie Mont Blanc" association.
